Urgency at the Bottom

The bottom seven teams are within nine points of one another. When they play each other the games turn into "six-pointers," which is a cliche used to describe the importance of a match between two teams in a similar place in the table. Just look at the scenes when Fulham scored a frenetic, stoppage time winner against Huddersfield over the weekend.

Huddersfield are in another important match again on Wednesday as they lookup to Burnley in the table. Burnley are tied on points with Southampton, but have the worse goal differential. Both teams will play with more urgency, which could mean sloppy and stretched play. That generally provides more chances at both ends.

These matches also show which teams still have fight left and which players rise to the occasion. The players on teams fighting relegation may not be viable against the top six teams, but they can provide value plays on FanDuel in games that mean so much to them. Remember which players perform at Huddersfield on Wednesday and research them on FanDuel the next time their team is in a six-pointer.
