Manchester City losing their last two matches may be the biggest sign that it is an unpredictable time of the year. They lost both games after scoring the first goal of the game. City have conceded on the first shot they faced in three of the last four matches.

City are not the only recent surprise. Tottenham have scored 11 goals in their past two matches to help them move into second place. That is more than a fourth of their total goals scored on the season. Everton scored five goals one match after conceding six to Tottenham. Everton had not scored more than three goals all season.

Boxing Day saw Jurgen Locadia score his first goal of the season despite 13 appearances. Romain Sass made eight appearances but did not score for Wolves until the day after Christmas. As you may imagine, neither were popular plays on the FanDuel Boxing Day slate.
