Shane Duffy, Defender, Brighton

Salary: $6,500

Duffy is tied with three other players as the fourth-highest priced defender on the slate, and he has averaged 20.83 FanDuel points through four matches -- the highest average among the defenders priced $6,500 and above. After scoring more than 25 FanDuel points in three of the first five matches of the season, Duffy has not scored more than 17 FanDuel points across the last three matches.

Both clubs are in the bottom three in overall possession, and the Seagulls have a 27.8% implied win probability over Newcastle. The match has a 41.7% chance of scoring over 2.5 goals, according to Paddy Power, while the Magpies have an 80% chance of scoring at least one goal.

Looking specifically at defenders, the Magpies have allowed the eighth-fewest tackles (1.57), sixth-fewest clearances (3.88), third-fewest interceptions (1.09) and second-fewest blocked shots (0.26) per 90 minutes this season. The Magpies, when looking at all positions, are in the bottom-half of the table in all of those categories except tackles -- fourth-most (1.75) per 90 minutes.

Duffy has made five or fewer clearances in three-straight matches and has made more than six clearances in just two matches this season while recording over three defensive actions in one of the other defensive categories -- tackles, blocked shots and interceptions -- just once. Duffy should be a safe cash play as he has scored more than 10 Fanduel points in seven of his eight matches, but at least recently, he has not offered the upside DFS players look for in large-field tournaments.
