Stay Away From World Cup Players

In a World Cup year, the first week of a new season in the Premier League generally does not feature many of the players that represented their country during the summer. The Premier League kickoff is earlier than many of the top five European leagues, and many players have just returned to their club teams over the last week.

Manchester United and Chelsea players may actually be in a breach of a clause that dictates a longer break for players featured in the World Cup. Chelsea had 14 players at the World Cup, although not all of their nations made it past the quarterfinals. Chelsea also just lost Thibault Courtois, Belgium's number one keeper returning from the World Cup.

Cardiff City's Aron Gunnarsson ($6,000) is among other players on the slate that had a big international role this summer and seem unlikely to play on Saturday. Also on that list are Everton's Jordan Pickford ($5,500) and Brighton's Jose Izquierdo ($7,000), the latter being listed as doubtful with a leg injury.

It should go without saying, but be sure to check the starting XI's about an hour before kickoff.
