4 NHL FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Thursday 4/21/22

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy -- but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.

Thursday night gives us 11 games to work with. It is time to save a little salary!

Filip Chytil, Center, New York Rangers

FanDuel Salary: $3,700

The New York Rangers play their arch-rival New York Islanders on Thursday night.

Filip Chytil is shooting the puck more with 9 shots on goal, 12 scoring chances, and a couple of assists in his last three games.

Going versus the Islanders is a risk but the middle-six forward does have some speed against a slower part of the Islanders' defensive core. It may be worth the risk.

The Rangers have one of the more balanced offenses in the league when their top three lines are moving the puck in transition and shooting. Chytil plays a vital role in that depth position.

Take the risk at a lower salary and run with it!

Ivan Barbashev, Wing, St. Louis Blues

FanDuel Salary: $4,100

Sometimes those low-floor risks are worth it. Ivan Barbashev might just be against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night.

The risk is great here. Barbashev has two donuts DFS-wise in his last four games but has 17+ FanDuel points in the other two.

In this potentially wild game, the winger possesses an above-average shot but averages less than 1.5 shots per game. He has 24 goals on 106 shots!

Will there be enough goals to be had with St. Louis? That is a possibility.

Alexander Edler, Defenseman, Los Angeles Kings

FanDuel Salary: $3,800

The elder "jack of all trades" defenseman may be worth a look on Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Now, Alexander Edler can block shots. After all, he has 12 in his last three games to go with an assist. He has three assists in his last seven games to go along with a solid floor.

The Los Angeles Kings' defenseman plays around 20 minutes a night as a top-four even-strength and penalty kill defender. Edler expects to see little or no time on the power play.

Erik Cernak could be an option from Tampa Bay Lightning as the defender is showing signs of better health of late.

Carey Price, Goalie, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Salary: $6,900

With Carey Price back in the starter's crease for Montreal, naturally, he is getting little or no goal support. Price has two quality starts in his return but nothing to show for it. He has stopped 45 of 49 shots.

Overall, this next matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers should see a better chance of a win. After all, both teams have lost six straight games and eight of their previous 10. Someone has to win here.

Montreal is allowing 3.83 goals per game on the road and at least facing a team in Philadelphia that allows 3.62 per contest. The two teams combine for just 5.08 goals per game. It is the lowest goal-scoring matchup of the night in theory.

This, by far, is Price's best chance at a win since he has returned.
