Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.
Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.
Goalie to Target
Jonathan Quick ($8,200): The Los Angeles Kings are solid -220 home favorites against the Seattle Kraken, and it puts Quick in a spot to come away with the win. The Kings are one of the very best defensive teams in the league, only allowing 2.11 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fourth-best in the league. Their defense suffocates the opposing offense, denying them the ability to generate offensive chances, allowing a 50.45 Corsi Against (total shot attempts allowed), per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fewest in the league.
While the Kings play a style that is rather unexciting from a real-life perspective, it continues to help them pick up wins. This has allowed Quick to bring a solid level of consistency to the ice, allowing three goals or fewer in eight of his last 10 starts, something he should be able to replicate tonight.
High-Priced Skaters
Leon Draisaitl ($10,100): The Edmonton Oilers got embarrassed over the weekend against the Calgary Flames, and they need to bounce back against the Arizona Coyotes. Losing a game is going to happen, but losing 9-5 is a different level of bad, and hopefully, it causes the Oilers to come out ready to prove a point tonight. They are -420 home favorites and carry a 4.19 implied goal total, both of which are the largest on the slate.
The Oilers are scoring 2.61 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 14th best in the league, and Draisaitl plays a big hand in that. He comes in with 15 NHL points, 35 shots on goal, and 7 blocked shots in his last 10 games. Simply put, the Oilers need Draisaitl -- and Connor McDavid -- to have big games and come away with the win.
Tage Thompson ($7,700): Tage Thompson is good -- get to know his name. The leading goal-scorer and point leader for the Buffalo Sabres skates on the first forward line and the first power-play, putting him in a spot to produce a multi-point game on any night. That is what we could be seeing from him tonight versus the Chicago Blackhawks, who are allowing 2.72 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 10th worst in the league.
The Sabres are also in the bottom 10 of the league for the most goals allowed (2.82 goals), which could set this game up for some back and forth action because both defenses are so bad. This would put Thompson in a spot to reach for his fantasy ceiling and makes him a great target. He has a solid 7 NHL points and 35 shots on goal over his last 10 games, making him viable in all formats tonight.
Value Skaters
Trevor Moore ($5,500): The Kings have a 3.49 implied goal total tonight, which is the second-highest on the slate, making them a clear target versus the Kraken. Moore is on the second forward line and the second power-play unit for the Kings and has been producing consistent numbers lately., He comes in with 9 NHL points and 30 shots on goal, which are a bit surprising for a player who is only $5,500. The Kraken are allowing the fifth-most (2.92) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, putting the Kings in a clear plus matchup tonight.
Taylor Raddysh ($3,500): Raddysh has three NHL points since being traded to the Blackhawks and can continue that trend tonight versus the Sabres. Surprisingly, Raddysh is on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, a role that far exceeds his modest $3,500 salary. As noted above, the Sabres are in the bottom 10 of the league for the most goals allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, and given his strong offensive role, Raddysh can find his way onto the scoresheet tonight en route to solid fantasy production.
