NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 3/2/22

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.

Goalie to Target

Juuse Saros ($8,200): The Nashville Predators are -184 road favorites against the Seattle Kraken, making Saros a clear option tonight. The Preds -- and largely Saros -- have proven to be one of the better defensive teams in the league, allowing 2.19 goals against per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the ninth-best in the league. This has been their calling card all season, and that looks like it should continue tonight since the Kraken come in scoring the fifth-fewest goals (2.13) per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

It's a clear mismatch in favor of the Predators, not to mention the fact that the Kraken's defense is allowing the fourth-most (3.00) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which should allow the Predators offense to secure the win for Saros.

High-Priced Skaters

Mitchell Marner ($8,800): The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be the chalk of the slate as -430 home favorites and a massive 4.19 implied goal total. The team with the second-highest goal total is the Predators, and they are sitting at 3.09. Toronto is a full goal ahead of the next team, so get ready to eat some chalk tonight. The Leafs' offense is cooking right now with three goals or more in four of their last five games, putting them head and shoulders above the rest of the slate.

Marner comes in with 16 NHL points, 41 shots on goal, and 6 blocked shots in his last 10 games. With the Buffalo Sabres allowing the fifth-most (2.93) goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, the Maple Leafs' offense -- and Marner -- are set to keep things rolling tonight.

Filip Forsberg ($8,400): Forsberg is the best offensive player for the Predators and with a soft matchup -- noted above -- against the Kraken, he is the player to trust tonight. Time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit continues to puts Forsberg in a spot for a strong floor and a high ceiling to reach for. His multi-point and multi-goal upside should be on display tonight against this weak defense. A total of 13 NHL points and 33 shots on goal in his last 10 games make Forsberg an option for all formats tonight.

Value Skaters

Dylan Cozens ($4,400): While the Sabres might not be a good team in real life, they have a sneaky good matchup tonight despite being +330 road underdogs versus the Maple Leafs. Speaking of the Leafs, they have now dropped into the bottom 10 of the league for the most goals (2.66) allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. A tale as old as time, the Leafs' defense struggling and giving up too many goals.

This is why we can look to the Sabres in tournaments tonight since there's a bit of back and forth potential for this game with a 6.5 over/under. Cozens comes in with a decent 6 NHL points and 27 shots on goal in his last 10 games. A role on the second forward line and the second power-play unit are solid for a matchup versus a struggling defense on the downswing.
