3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Tuesday 12/14/21

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside, as if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists as well. Ideally, we'll want players that will get a lot of ice time together on an even strength line and a power play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

There are a ton of moving parts due to players being put on the COVID list, and two games already have been postponed, so be sure to keep up with all information tonight when finalizing your lineups.

Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets haven't been having their best stretch of the season. They are just 4-5-1 and down in fifth in the Central Division. They're back at home tonight -- where they've played much better and have a great matchup.

The Jets have been led all season by Kyle Connor ($9,000). Only Leon Draisaitl and Alex Ovechkin have more goals than Connor this year. He's been reunited with Mark Scheifele ($7,500), who has points in five straight games. The change on this line is with the right wing, as Andrew Copp ($5,700) takes the spot of the injured Blake Wheeler. Copp has 20 points in 27 games while playing on lower lines, so he should continue to produce in this role.

The Jets will play host to the Buffalo Sabres in this game. Buffalo has been downright bad of late, with just one win in their last 10 games. They've really struggled defensively and have allowed the fourth-most goals per game in the NHL.

Winnipeg is a huge favorite tonight and has an implied total of 3.64 goals. That's the second-highest on the slate, and with the first line offering full correlation on the power-play, as well, this stack has the kind of upside you need on this massive slate.

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche scored just three goals on Sunday, ending a streak of scoring seven in three straight games. It paid off for fantasy players, though, because the production came from the line you would expect. This is an explosive team capable of blowing up each time they take the ice, and tonight is no different.

Like most teams, Colorado has had a ton of moving parts in their lineup. Mikko Rantanen ($8,600) slid down to the second line for a little while, but he is now back on the top line and had three assists on Sunday. Nathan MacKinnon ($10,000) continues to be a bit snake-bitten with just five goals, but he keeps racking up shots and assists, as he had six shots and two assists in that Sunday game. The big headliner was Andre Burakovsky ($5,500), who scored a hat trick in that game after being bumped up to the top line. He offers great value to a stack that will not come cheap.

The Avalanche are averaging a whopping 4.32 goals per game, by far the most in the league. They scored seven last week against the New York Rangers, who will be their opponents again tonight. The Rangers will likely still be without star goalie Igor Shesterkin, who has been a real difference maker for the team this season.

The value of Burakovsky allows room for defenseman Cale Makar ($7,000), who still is tied for the team lead in goals with 12. Makar is a fine fourth piece to add to the stack.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are on a bit of a roll, winning their last four games. Their hottest goal scorer unfortunately suffered an injury, but we can fill in his spot with a nice value play in a good matchup.

The first line has now lost Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel. Evan Rodrigues ($5,700) has filled in admirably for Rust, with five points and a massive 32 shots on goal in seven games since joining the first line. Kasperi Kapanen ($4,000) has played two games in place of Guentzel, and he scored a goal in Friday's game. They'll play with Sidney Crosby ($7,200), so they'll have a chance to produce a big game alongside one of the league's best playmakers.

The Penguins are playing the Montreal Canadiens, who have been struggling mightily. They've lost three in a row and eight of their last 10 games. They've allowed the fifth-most goals per game and are missing several players at the moment.

The low salaries on the Penguins make them a great stack. You can fit in some other solid stacks -- such as Winnipeg -- around them. The Penguins have an implied team total of 3.43 goals, so they aren't just a fill-in to make the rest of your lineup work.

Others to consider: Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, Seattle Kraken (value stack)
