3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 1/17/20

Erik Haula has been promoted to the Hurricanes' second line and is seeing power-play time. Is he one of the top value players on the slate?

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Erik Haula, Center, Carolina Hurricanes

FanDuel Price: $4,600

The Carolina Hurricanes switched up their lines and have put Erik Haula on a line with Sebastian Aho and Warren Foegele at even strength, which is a great spot for Haula to be in. It is certainly beneficial playing on a line with Aho compared to a third-line role.

In addition to his role at even strength, Haula also plays on the top power-play unit — a unit that sits eighth with a 21.9 percent conversion rate.

Dominik Kahun, Winger, Pittsburgh Penguins

FanDuel Price: $4,700

The Pittsburgh Penguins simply cannot get healthy. Anytime somebody gets close to returning, another goes down with an injury. With Sidney Crosby back in the lineup, and obviously Jake Guentzel now on the shelf, the Penguins have changed some things up in terms of their lines.

Dominik Kahun is playing in the Guentzel spot on the left wing with Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust which is fantastic. The Penguins are on the tail-end of a back-to-back, but it's a road matchup against the Detroit Red Wings which shouldn't discourage the usage of them too much.

Mikhail Sergachev, Defense, Tampa Bay Lightning

FanDuel Price: $4,700

It has been an interesting year for Mikhail Sergachev. The eye-test says he's playing solid, but there isn't much offensive production which is unfortunate. Having Victor Hedman and a rejuvenated Kevin Shattenkirk taking away some power-play time certainly doesn't help, but Sergachev still plays on the second unit which is good.

Sergachev has put up 24 points in 47 games, along with 78 shots and 67 blocks. The peripheral stats aren't great and he does rely on some offensive production for value, but the Tampa Bay Lightning have the second-best power play with a 27.7 percent conversion rate and take on a Winnipeg Jets penalty kill that sits 29th with a lowly 74.2 success rate.
