NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 2/22/19

Friday night's five-game slate includes Patrick Kane and the Blackhawks taking on the Avalanche. Who else can you trust in DFS tonight?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.

To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Marc-Andre Fleury ($8,000): The Vegas Golden Knights are expected to start Fleury against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night. The Golden Knights looked better but lost a tough overtime game to Boston on Wednesday night. Overall, the Jets have yielded 19 goals in their last five games, including seven to the Colorado Avalanche. For that reason, as well as his depressed price, Fleury is lower-risk than most others. Also, Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,700) starts for Columbus, and he may be an option just for the matchup. But watch to see who starts for Detroit as well; Jimmy Howard has not been confirmed yet and may not start on the heels of being pulled Wednesday night.

High-Priced Skaters

Nathan MacKinnon ($8,000): MacKinnon draws a matchup against the show that is the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago yields 3.52 goals per game and has allowed 23 goals over the last five contests. The Blackhawks feature a penalty kill that converts at just 73.5% and allows nearly 34 shots per 60 at home. Games lately for Chicago have just taken a life of their own. The likelihood of Chicago giving up three goals and 30+ shots is extremely high. MacKinnon averages 4.33 shots per game, which leads to a nice floor. And chances of a multi-point game are elevated. Jonathan Toews ($7,700) and Dylan Larkin ($7,300) are similarly good choices among the upper echelon on Friday night.

Patrick Kane ($9,400): Kane is the lock once again for this five-game slate. The winger has topped 28 FanDuel points in each of his last four starts, and he has played a ton at 22+ minutes a night. Like MacKinnon, he fires four or more shots a game on net. Kane is now up to 1.51 points per game on the season, while Colorado is giving up 3.39 goals per game on the road and 33 shots per 60. Their road penalty kill hovers around 75% over the last 15 games away from Pepsi Center. The Colorado and Chicago matchup expects to see a lot of goals, and that is partly why the over/under is a rare seven. Alex DeBrincat ($7,400) is a cheaper wing alternative with 22 real-world points in his last dozen games played.

Value Skaters

Tyson Jost ($3,700): This comes with decent risk, but Jost keeps getting sheltered chances plus draws against Chicago. Wednesday night saw Jost tally a goal, two assists, three shots, and three scoring chances. A value play like this is a nice way to help game stack the Chicago-Colorado game. Joel Eriksson Ek ($3,500) is one punt play from the Minnesota Wild, and Filip Chlapik ($3,000) could be a minimum-priced play at home against Columbus. He fired three shots on net in his season debut on Thursday.

Michael Frolik ($3,600): In his last game, Frolik had another double-digit scoring night on FanDuel which gives him three in a row this past week. He continues to see about 15 minutes a night in this latest stretch. The Calgary Flames enjoy a prime matchup at home against Anaheim this evening. The Flames average 4.24 goals per game at home, while Anaheim allows 3.24 goals per contest on the road. Both teams have won a few in a row, but again, this game is in Calgary. Jordan Greenway ($3,200) is seeing elevated minutes for the Wild and could be a solid tournament option to round out your Friday lineups.
