Panthers' Cam Newton (shoulder) on track to play Thursday night

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said that quarterback Cam Newton is on track to play in Thursday's preseason game.

What It Means:

ESPN's David Newton also notes that Rivera likes what he saw out of his signal caller in today's practice. He had previously started throwing in team drills and is looking ready for the team's third preseason game in Jacksonville. Newton is almost certain to get less reps than most starters, but this should put all Week 1 worries to rest until further notice.

Our models expect Newton to produce 19.5 fantasy points in Week 1 and 312.5 points over the course of the 2017 season. He is our QB7 and is currently going off the board with pick 8.09, as QB11, in standard-league drafts.
