Robert Blanton is Bills' top backup safety
Buffalo Bills safety Robert Blanton would be the backup plan at safety if starter Aaron Williams (neck) suffers a setback, the Buffalo News suggests.
Signed to a one-year deal in March, Blanton is expected to have a role in sub packages regardless, but he would have the first crack at the starting job if something happened to Williams, who has been fully cleared. Blanton started 17 games in his four years with the Minnesota Vikings.
Buffalo ranked 16th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play last season. Our algorithms project Blanton for 14.98 tackles in 2016.
