Bills' Latavius Murray on goal line usage: 'That's why I'm here'

Buffalo Bills running back Latavius Murray said that operating as the team's goal line back in "why I'm here."

What It Means:

Murray added, "I’ll let No. 4 do the cute, good-looking stuff, all the gadget stuff," further illustrating how the Bills intend to use their running backs this season. While teammate James Cook rushed for his first 100-yard game in Week 2 as the team's primary ball-carrier, it was Murray and teammate Damien Harris that punched in touchdowns in the red zone. Neither Murray nor Harris are currently seeing enough volume to be reliable enough options for fantasy football, but it certainly sounds like their presences will curb Cook's touchdown upside for the rest of the season.

Where Cook has handled a team-high 29 carries for 169 yards, Murray and Harris have each seen 8 carries, totaling 66 yards and 2 scores in their opportunities. It looks like Cook will need to do his scoring from outside of the red zone this season and it remains to be seen whether the Bills really do intend to curb quarterback Josh Allen's rushing usage near the goal line.
