Patriots: Cam Newton's play not impacted by COVID-19

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton's play is not being affected by the aftereffects of COVID-19, head coach Bill Belichick claimed.

What It Means:

"We'd list him on the injury report if he was," Belichick replied when asked if Newton's recent struggles were related to his positive diagnosis earlier this month. "I don't think he's had any symptoms the whole way." Newton was benched for Jarrett Stidham this past Sunday after throwing 3 interceptions and managing only 98 yards on 15 attempts. He's averaging just 6.4 yards per attempt and has 5 interceptions over the last two games with no touchdowns. Despite the struggles, Belichick said Newton will remain the starter in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills.
