Broncos to franchise tag Von Miller
The Denver Broncos will place the franchise tag on linebacker Von Miller, and then try to work out a contract extension, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Broncos could use the tag on quarterback Brock Osweiler instead, but it sounds like Miller is the top priority. Miller has keyed Denver's pass rush for the last four years and is coming off a monster game against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship. Last year, the salary for linebackers under the franchise tag was $13.195 million. That number should jump to about $14 million in 2016.
Denver led the NFL this year with 52 sacks, and Miller was an integral part of that pass rush. The Broncos' defense ranked first in the league in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points.
