3.03: Wendell Smallwood, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Drafter Comments

"After a productive career at West Virginia -- he led the Big 12 in rushing last year -- Smallwood lands with the Eagles and is only behind oft-injured Ryan Mathews on the depth chart. While certainly not a lock for action this year, Smallwood showed the ability to be a solid receiver out of the backfield in college, adding to his value should he find time as a starter." -- Blair Ames

Other Comments

"Smallwood does a lot of things pretty well, and Philadelphia's lack of running back depth means he has a chance to see the field early in his career. His stock is rising post-draft, and he's a worthwhile third-round pick." -- Austan Kas

"Smallwood is incredibly agile, logging a 6.83 three-cone time at the NFL Combine. He handled over 250 touches in his final season at West Virginia and is capable of carrying a full load despite his size (208 pounds). Considering that Ryan Mathews has only played 16 games in a season one time in his six-year career and that the team is trying to trade Darren Sproles, there should be some rookie year starts in Smallwood's future. When that happens, he will absolutely be startable in fantasy football." -- Anthony Amico
