5 NFL Teams That Need Wide Receiver Help Entering the Draft

Cleveland Browns

We knew the Cleveland Browns were in a mess of a situation on offense, but their wide receiver group is arguably the roughest part of a team that saw two Pro Bowl offensive linemen leave in free agency this offseason. The Browns also watched as wide receiver Travis Benjamin walked for greener (literally) pastures as the newest pass-catcher for the San Diego Chargers. Benjamin wasn't hyper-efficient in 2015, with just 0.59 Reception NEP per target, but he saw 125 targets and had the 32nd-best Reception NEP among wideouts last year.

The Browns, therefore, are left with a motley crew led by Brian Hartline, whose 0.67 Reception NEP per target was exactly league-average and whose 59.74 percent Catch Rate was horrid. Had Andrew Hawkins or Taylor Gabriel had enough targets to qualify for this study, they would have ranked 84th and 86th in Reception NEP per target out of 87 wide receivers, respectively. As for reinforcements, the Browns have suspended star Josh Gordon, and converted quarterback Terrelle Pryor still trying to figure out his place in the pros.

Long story short: it's bleak.
