4 NFL Teams That Should Run the Ball More in 2015

Oakland Raiders

Despite having a rookie quarterback under center -- and one who was a lot less efficient than his touchdown-to-interception ratio indicated -- the Oakland Raiders ran the fewest rushing plays in the NFL last year. In turn, they had the highest pass-to-run ratio in the league at 1.95.

Of Derek Carr's 599 pass attempts, 435 came when the team was trailing, and another 89 came when the team was tied. Quick math tells us that only 75 of his pass attempts came when the team had the lead, which ranked 26th in the NFL despite dropping back to pass the seventh most times.

Regression is bound to hit the Raiders, as only eight teams have had a higher pass-to-run ratio since 2000 than Oakland did in 2015. This is especially true considering the defense looks stronger and their running back group appears deeper.
