Matt Breida, San Francisco 49ers

Target Success Rate: 61.29%
Target NEP Per Target: 0.54

Matt Breida led the San Francisco 49ers in rushing yards last season with 814, and despite his efficiency as a pass catcher he was still something of an afterthought in the Niners' offense when it came time to air the ball out. He averaged just south of two receptions per game, and saw seven players see more targets than his 31. Despite this limited number of opportunities, he made the most of them.

Breida had the same Target Success Rate as McCaffrey, while only Hunt's 0.99 Target NEP per target exceed Breida's. Again, we are forced to ask if 31 targets is truly enough to paint Breida as a truly elite level receiving back though. It would be interesting to see how his efficiency were to be affected by greater volume, especially given his real lack of receiving chops coming out of a lower-level program in Georgia Southern.

The majority of Breida's targets came on later downs, with only 14 of his 31 looks coming on first down. That being said, he still caught 12 of these 14 for 137 yards, more than 52% of his total receiving yards. He is a player that has shown he could benefit from more looks, but I wonder if he'll get them this time around. Jerick McKinnon's impending return could keep him from doing so, but this is one to monitor during the offseason.
