The New York Jets should look vastly different by the time the 2019 season rolls around. They got started right away, firing Todd Bowles immediately after the 2018 season finished. Adam Gase and the new regime would be wise to enter this brave new dawn without Isaiah Crowell.

Before landing on injured reserve, Crowell had 685 yards rushing with 6 touchdowns while averaging 4.8 yards per carry. However, 219 of his yards came in a single game, and 4 of the touchdowns came in the season's opening three weeks. From a per-play standpoint, Crowell’s 0.00 Rushing NEP per play was 25th among the 47 running backs to have at least 100 rush attempts in 2018. However, his Success Rate -- the number of plays that positively impact NEP -- was the fourth-worst at 32.17%. He lived on big plays in 2018.

Crowell is an old-fashioned, two-down type of player, offering little in the passing game outside of a 40-catch season back in 2016. He should find a home somewhere as a depth back, but he is not the type of runner teams should be building their ground game around in 2018. The Jets have tons of cap space so they can afford to keep Crowell around, but they've long been linked with soon-to-be free agent Le'Veon Bell, a move that would likely end Crowell's tenure with Gang Green.
