Wide Receiver

Chalk

There are some hefty implied team totals this week, and as the quarterbacks go, so do our elite fantasy wide receivers.

If your'e looking to spend up at the position in Week 16, the Los Angeles Rams lead the way with a 30.25 implied team total, which could lead to pass-catchers like Brandin Cooks ($7,400) and Robert Woods ($7,500) in a lot of lineups. They have both topped the 1,100-yard receiving mark in 2018.

After a goose egg in the passing touchdown department last week against the Carolina Panthers, Drew Brees and company are looking to bounce back this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is currently the only game on the main slate with an over/under above 50.0 points (53.0), so Michael Thomas ($8,300), along with Steelers wide receivers Antonio Brown ($8,700) and JuJu Smith-Schuster ($8,000) should see heavy ownership. Note that Smith-Schuster was limited on Thursday, though, so keep an eye on his status.

Despite it being a bit of an ugly season as a team, Julio Jones ($8,700) continues to produce at a high rate, and we have him projected for the top score among wide receivers this week. He has now topped 100 catches and 1,500 receiving yards, so assuming he's able to suit up, he could be a popular option.

Pivot

Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers: $8,500 (at New York Jets)

If you want to spend up at the wide receiver position, Davante Adams has a dream matchup against the New York Jets, even if it doesn't jump off the page initially.

On Sunday's main slate, the Green Bay Packers possess a middling 25.0-point implied team total, which ranks them only seventh. That's partly due to a 47.0-point over/under influenced by two teams that don't work the quickest. In terms of situation-neutral pace, Green Bay checks in at 16th (31.25 seconds per play), while the Jets are even slower at 29th (32.60 seconds).

But sleeping on this matchup would be a bad idea -- the Jets have allowed the most FanDuel points to opposing wide receivers and were bombed just one week ago by DeAndre Hopkins for 10 catches, 170 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. And while it hasn't been one of Aaron Rodgers' best seasons, as he ranks only 17th in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back (0.13), the Jets and their 22nd-ranked pass defense are too much to ignore.

We have Adams projected for 15.7 FanDuel points this week, but with his 27.7% target market share, we could see that number balloon to 29.44 FanDuel points in a tournament setting.
