Elijah McGuire, RB, New York Jets

The New York Jets' backfield situation is still a total mess, but it's also looking pretty good for Elijah McGuire.

McGuire didn't practice on Tuesday, but he did return to limited action on Wednesday, while Isaiah Crowell was still sidelined. McGuire played a big role when Crowell made an early exit in Week 14, and this is shaping up to be another game with McGuire as the Jets' lead back.

McGuire played 74% of the team's offensive snaps last week, and he parlayed that into a huge workload, tallying 17 carries and 4 targets. His volume in his previous four weeks had already been pretty reasonable as well, with six carries in each game and an average of four targets per.

The Houston Texans are a rough matchup, allowing bottom-10 fantasy production to running backs, but volume is king at the position. Even in a difficult spot, the potential to get 20-plus opportunities (carries plus targets) from a waiver wire running back is rare.

If you need running back help this week and it continues to look like Crowell is out, you can feel good about plugging McGuire into your lineup.
