Wendell Smallwood, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Yahoo! Ownership: 4%

With the Philadelphia Eagles' backfield beaten up in Week 3, Wendell Smallwood took advantage, scoring 18.1 PPR points with 91 total yards and a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts. The second-year back was on the field for 35% of offensive snaps with Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles sitting out.

This week, the backfield remains in flux, with Ajayi dealing with a back fracture and Sproles still sidelined with a hamstring injury. There to take advantage, if they should miss time, is Smallwood.

He is averaging 4.9 yards per rush while mixing in some passing down work (six targets for four catches) this season. When Ajayi missed most of the first half in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Smallwood saw over 30% of snaps and logged 8 touches for 30 yards.

Even if Ajayi plays in Week 4, Smallwood has earned a role in the offense as he has been the most effective back. His 0.21 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry and 64.71% Success Rate are tops among all Philly running backs.

The matchup against the Tennessee Titans is a nice one as well. Tennessee has allowed 4.8 rushing yards per attempt, the eighth-most in the NFL. The Eagles are also 3.5-point road favorites, meaning there should be plenty of carries available in the Philly backfield.
