Jalen Richard, RB, Oakland Raiders

DraftKings Price: $3,400

Projected Points: 1.9

Projected Value: 0.55

It sometimes feels like chasing points when you are thinking about rostering a cheap player who provided huge value the week before. Such is the case with Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard.

Richard was seemingly the third-string running back on the Raiders' roster entering their Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, but he proved to be anything but. The third-year player out of Southern Mississippi was a major threat in the passing game, catching 9 of 11 passes for 55 yards and adding another 24 on the ground.

Richard's previous high in receptions was six in his rookie year. His 11 targets represent 30.6% of his total from all of last year, which makes it clear how his new head coach values his passing abilities.

This week's matchup against the Denver Broncos should provide another positive game script for Richard to be heavily involved in the passing game. The Broncos are favored by six points, tied for the fourth-biggest spread on the slate. The Broncos' defense tends to funnel passes towards the middle of the field, which should benefit both Richard and teammate Jared Cook more than it does Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson.

If our projections for Richard seem drastically low, just remember that this is only Week 2 and our algorithms take into account not only Week 1, but also performances from last season, when Richard had four games at or under his predicted 1.9 points.

This isn't a player around whom you want to build your 50/50 lineups; if you're looking for a cheap running back filler that offers five-times value upside and will provide valuable cap space, however, then look Richard's way.
