Nathan Peterman's -0.94 Passing NEP per Drop Back Was a League-Low Clip

After being anointed the starting quarterback, ahead of first-round draft selection Josh Allen, Nathan Peterman laid an egg of mammoth proportions on the season's opening weekend.

Peterman completed a mere 5 of his 18 pass attempts for a barely-believable 24 yards against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. He also tossed two interceptions, and to rub further salt into the wound, he was sacked three times. It was a miserable day on offense for the Bills, who averaged 6.6 yards per offensive possession on Sunday. Six. Point. Six. Yards.

Peterman was so bad that the numbers put up by Allen after he came into the game, as unimpressive as they were, look miles better. Allen went 6 for 15 for 74 yards and took 3 sacks of his own. It was another rough outing in the early days of Peterman's NFL career, which so far has seen him take to the field in just three regular season games. In these games, he has completed 29 of 67 pass attempts (43.3%) for 276 yards, 2 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

The Bills are not exactly overflowing with top-shelf skill players on offense, and the offense's ineptitude cannot be put solely on Peterman's shoulders. But it is hard to imagine Peterman keeping a firm hand on the starting job for much longer.
