Jared Cook, TE, Oakland Raiders

Jared Cook is someone I've been high on relative to his price all offseason, and he looks like he's going to offer both a reasonable floor and strong ceiling, as far as sleeper tight ends go.

I went in-depth in another piece about how his potential red zone work will give him huge touchdown upside in 2018, and nothing has changed to deter me since then. Upside for tight ends is all about touchdowns, and that's there for Cook.

He saw 86 targets in 2017, and while that's not a huge mark, his workload was very consistent. He didn't have many huge games (though again, he does have upside here), but he saw at least 5 targets in 12 of his 16 games.

Week 1's matchup looks like a tough one on the surface, taking on a Los Angeles Rams team that we have ranked seventh against the pass, but it's actually not such a rough spot.

The Rams ranked 7th in our Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play in 2017, but still allowed the 11th-most fantasy points per game to the tight end position.

Our models project Cook for the 14th-best fantasy score among tight ends this week, and that is the top projection for any tight end owned in under 50% of Yahoo leagues.
