Target NEP per target: -0.44

The Dallas Cowboys had the third-lowest pass-to-run ratio (1.09) in the NFL. They were not particularly efficient on the occasions they did pass, finishing 21st in Adjusted Passing NEP per play with a mark of -0.01. Dak Prescott was one of the most inefficient quarterbacks in the red zone and was not helped by Dez Bryant inside the 20-yard line.

Bryant had 20 red-zone targets. That was eighth-most among qualifying players and equated to a 32.80% share of targets for the Cowboys. This was the second season of his career in which Bryant saw that many targets inside the 20 (he caught 13 targets for 68 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013). He managed two fewer receptions and two fewer yards in 2017, but also five fewer touchdowns to go along with a 54.55% Success Rate that was 27th out of 30 qualifying players.
