The Los Angeles Chargers are a massive 13.5-point home favorite, as the reeling Cleveland Browns are in town. The Chargers have the second-highest implied point total (28.0 points) but have the largest spread in Week 13. This means there should be a pretty solid game script for the Chargers' running game.

Enter three-down back Melvin Gordon. Gordon has not had a good year of football, managing just two games over 100 yards rushing and only 5 rushing touchdowns. That said, Gordon has had 20-plus carries in each of the past two games. He's being fed the rock and the Chargers are on a two-game winning streak, a streak that could be directly correlated to their willingness to continue to run the football.

In a positive game script where the Chargers will likely be playing with the lead, Gordon has the opportunity to finish the game with another 20-plus carries and hopefully a couple goal line plunges. He doesn't really have slate-winning upside, but he does offer up a sense of security when building a roster around him. For this week, he's a stud and a relatively safe one.
