Will Todd Gurley March All Over New Orleans?

The game that looks destined to provide maximum entertainment on Sunday is the Los Angeles Rams at the New Orleans Saints in the Coors Field of the NFL. Thanks to numberFire's Heat Map, we see that this tilt features an over/under of 53.5 points as of Tuesday evening, 4.5 points ahead of the next highest contest.

Flipping over to our scheduled-adjusted metrics, we find that both the Saints and Rams sit inside the top-5 passing offenses. On the other side of the ball, each has been successful against the pass and are also top-5 passing defenses.

While throwing the ball will be a test of strength versus strength on both sides, the ground game has been a blessing and a curse for New Orleans. Alvin Kamara is a NEP darling, while Mark Ingram ranks eighth in the metric.

However, the Saints are the league's second-worst rushing defense according to our schedule-adjusted metrics. Opponents have enjoyed the fifth-highest success rate when running on New Orleans. Over their five games, three opposing running backs (Aaron Jones, Jordan Howard, and Samaje Perine) have exceeded 100 rushing yards against them.

No wonder Todd Gurley is a close second in our projections at the running back position. And for daily fantasy players, he's also top value running back on FanDuel. Even though Gurley's projected fantasy point total trails Le'Veon Bell by only less than half a point, Gurley's price tag in DFS comes $900 cheaper.
