The Tennessee Titans have depth at the wide receiver position, but they rarely try to maximize it.

Per Sharp Football Stats, the Titans have run plays in 11 personnel (three wide receivers) just 39 percent of the time, which is last among all NFL teams. Tennessee has run a total of four plays with four or more wide receivers on the field. With Eric Decker (83.2 percent of offensive snaps played) and Rishard Matthews (79.9 percent) taking most of the reps in two receiver sets. With rookie Corey Davis expected back from injury this week, there’s not a lot of plays for Taywan Taylor, who has been on the field for just 36.2 percent of the offensive snaps this year.

But in his limited action, Taylor has been Tennessee’s most efficient receiver at 0.87 Reception NEP per target. It would benefit the Titans to cut down Decker’s playing time. Despite leading the receivers in snaps, Decker is behind Matthews in targets (48 to 37) and has put up a paltry 0.45 Reception NEP per target -- when the league average has been around 0.66.
