Vernon Davis, Washington Redskins

Jordan Reed is expected to miss Week 9 which means Vernon Davis will again step in as the starting tight end. Davis has played relatively well in Reed's absence over the past two seasons, averaging 4.6 catches for 49.4 yards and 0.4 touchdowns in five games.

The matchup against the Seattle Seahawks isn't ideal, as the Washington Redskins are expected to score just 19 points, but Seattle has been just league-average against tight ends this season. If there is any way to beat this Seattle defense, it is over the middle, which explains why only three teams have seen tight ends targeted more frequently per game than Seattle (8.7 targets per game). Davis should get plenty of looks this week and is a fine fill-in if your tight end is on a bye.
