Week 8 NFL Advanced Analytics Superstars
Wide Receiver: DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans
DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans
8 Receptions, 224 Yards, 11 Targets, 1 Touchdowns
Performance Score: 100
Perhaps no player in football has benefited more from a change at the quarterback position than Houston Texans star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. After dealing with subpar passers for much of his career, Hopkins has been dominant in 2017 following the emergence of rookie Deshaun Watson.
On Sunday, against a stingy Seattle Seahawks defense, Hopkins produced 8 receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown, good for a Performance Score of 100. He was running open all afternoon, and he went nearly untouched on a 72-yard wide receiver screen that produced a touchdown.
His Reception NEP of 17.06 was far and away the best of the week, and he did all of this work on just 11 targets. He is currently on pace for 102 receptions for 1,385 yards and a career-best 16 touchdowns. While the touchdowns are seemingly unsustainable given that Watson is on pace to shatter the rookie touchdown record, Hopkins has finally been unleashed in the best offense he has been in over his five-year career.
