Tarik Cohen's 21 Targets Leads All Running Backs

In his first two NFL games, Tarik Cohen has seen 9 and 12 targets, respectively. His 21 total targets are 7 more than the next closest running back, and he leads all Chicago Bears players with 24.71% of the team's targets this season. Lesean McCoy, at 25.00%, is the only running back with a higher target percentage, but he has still seen eight fewer targets than the Bears' rookie. No other running back is averaging more than 7.5 targets per game this season, compared to Cohen's 10.5.

Since 1999, only three other running backs have been targeted 21 or more times through the first two games of a season. None of them were able to play a full 16-game schedule, and their teams combined for an 0-6 record over those first two games.

Cohen is currently on pace for 168 targets, which would shatter the running back record of 137 targets set by Ladainian Tomlinson in 2003. Two games is a small sample size, but if Cohen can maintain this pace, he would need 14 games to surpass L.T.

With eight receptions in each of the first two outings, Cohen is averaging 19.05 PPR fantasy points per game, even while splitting time with Jordan Howard. It's unlikely that Cohen can maintain his current pace in the passing game, but he will clearly play a big role in Chicago, with top receivers Kevin White and Cameron Meredith out for the year.
