Start Carson Palmer as a Heavy Favorite

Anytime that you can bet on a 37-year-old quarterback coming off a lackluster performance in Week 1, you gotta do it!

Carson Palmer and the Arizona Cardinals were 2.5-point favorites against the Detroit Lions, but came up short. Palmer finished the week 19th among quarterbacks.

That being said, we are going back to the well. Earlier this week, we covered why Palmer is a streamable quarterback. We can use that logic and add in some favorable Vegas trends.

The Cards are 7.5-point favorites on the road against the hapless Indianapolis Colts. Since joining the Cardinals in 2013, Palmer has scored better when his team was favored. When favored by any margin, Palmer has averaged 22.11 half-PPR fantasy points per game. He has averaged about three points fewer per game as an underdog.

Arizona is 10-6 against the spread as road favorites since Palmer joined the team.

Furthermore, in victories, Palmer has averaged 22.59 fantasy points per game, which is 3.5 points higher than he has scored in losses. The Cards also have an implied total of 25.75 points, which ranks sixth-highest among teams this weekend.

There is, of course, the aforementioned risk that Palmer may be hosed at this point in his career, but the risk is mitigated by his affordable price on FanDuel. Palmer is priced at $7,500, which ranks 15th among quarterbacks.
