Dak Prescott Is the Cowboys' Future

Last week, I wrote about how Carson Wentz looked like the truth. At that point, Wentz was one of only two rookie quarterbacks since 1970 who had thrown at least 75 passes in the first three games of their career without tossing an interception.

That other quarterback was fellow rookie Dak Prescott, who has now extended that streak to four games. And Prescott -- like Wentz -- also looks like the truth.

Prescott got his shot in the preseason when Tony Romo went down, and he put on quite the show. However, questions remained about Prescott's ability to translate his preseason success to the regular season when he wasn't facing second-string defenses.

Our expectations were too low.

Through four games, Prescott has been an efficient passer, registering an impressive 0.32 Passing NEP per drop back, good for fourth among quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs. He's also contributed 7.22 points by Rushing NEP, helping boost his Total NEP to third among quarterbacks in the league.

Moreover, his 53.39% Passing Success Rate also ranks third in the league among quarterbacks. So Prescott has not only been efficient, but he has also been consistently moving the chains too.

When Romo comes back from injury, Prescott will vanish from your fantasy football rosters. But soon enough, whether it be later this season, the next, or the season after, Prescott stands a good chance to see the field again. And for fantasy football purposes, you'll want to remember just how well he played when he had his shot.
