Odell Beckham was the chalk play at wide receiver last week in a home matchup against the New Orleans Saints’ porous defense with a Vegas total of 53. However, owners were mostly disappointed, as he finished with 8 receptions, 86 yards, and no touchdowns. Beckham has been outperformed by fellow Giants wideouts Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz through two games, leaving many wondering if OBJ will ever perform like a top-three fantasy receiver this season.

Facing the Washington Redskins this week, it was revealed that cornerback Josh Norman will shadow Beckham “everywhere except in the slot.” When these two faced off last season, Norman frustrated Beckham, causing OBJ to commit four personal fouls, and a narrative was developed that Norman shut him down. Yes, Beckham still caught 6 balls for 76 yards and a touchdown in that game, but it wasn’t enough to shake the storyline.

However, there are two specific plays where if Beckham just caught the ball, the perception on his entire outlook would be different this weekend.

First, he had this huge drop late in the fourth quarter against the Saints last week:

If he caught that and had a statline of 9 catches, 120 yards, and 1 touchdown, there’s a good chance his salary looks a little different this week.

Secondly, this play happened just two minutes into the Carolina game last year with Norman on Beckham:

If Beckham starts the game with a 50-yard touchdown on Norman, the entire story is re-written, and Beckham would see a much higher ownership percentage this weekend.
