College Football Single-Game Daily Fantasy Helper: Saturday 12/11/21 (Army @ Navy)
The college football regular season concludes on Saturday as the Army Black Knights square off with the Navy Midshipmen.
For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5 times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.
Player Breakdowns
At The Top
Christian Anderson, Army ($15,000) - There is volatility associated with every ball carrier in Saturday's game. Both offenses run the triple option which is predicated on reads by the quarterback. Consequently, it is very difficult to accurately predict the opportunities each individual ball carrier will receive on any given Saturday. That is something to keep in mind while building our lineups. I think it makes sense to take more risks than usual as a result. Christian Anderson is the starting quarterback for Army. He has accounted for 11 touchdowns this season. In Anderson's lone career start against Navy, the senior quarterback tallied 21 rushing attempts.
Jakobi Buchanan, Army ($13,500) - Buchanan leads the slate with 11 rushing touchdowns (11 games played). He is one of the safer plays on this slate due to his secure workload. The bruising fullback has recorded 33 rushing attempts over the last two games. Buchanan will be a popular play.
Tai Lavatai, Navy ($13,000) - Lavatai is the Midshipmen's starting quarterback. The sophomore has played in nine games and he has accounted for 10 touchdowns. Additionally, Lavatai has recorded 11-plus carries in eight out of the nine games that he's played in this season. Since Navy is a 7.0-point underdog, I'd expect Lavatai to be less popular in the MVP slot than both Buchanan and Anderson.
In The Middle
Tyrell Robinson, Army ($12,000) - Robinson leads all Army ball carriers (excluding quarterbacks) in offensive snaps this season (387). The sophomore only received 59 carries in 11 games. However, Robinson made the most of his opportunities. He averaged an eye-opening 9.9 yards per carry. Since Robinson's opportunities are limited and his price is inflated, I'd expect Robinson to be less popular than the three players mentioned "At The Top." Consequently, Robinson makes for a solid under-the-radar tournament play.
Isaac Ruoss, Navy ($11,000) - Ruoss leads the slate with 157 carries this season. The Navy fullback has found the end zone three times over the last two games. If Navy pulls the upset, Ruoss will have likely played a leading role.
Chance Warren, Navy ($10,000) - The Navy slotback has been productive even though his workload has been unpredictable. Warren is averaging 5.6 yards per carry. Additionally, he is a threat when Navy does pass the ball. Warren leads the Midshipmen with three touchdown receptions. His 10 receptions this season are tied for the team lead. Finally, he will be on the field for a ton of snaps. Warren has logged at least 37 snaps in every game this season.
At The Bottom
Isaiah Alston, Army ($9,500) - Finally, a pass-catcher! Army and Navy have combined for 176 total pass attempts THIS season. That is a solid three games for Will Rogers at Mississippi State. Due to the low volume passing games, I'd expect Alston and Navy's Mychal Cooper ($7,500) to fly under-the-radar. Alston has at least one reception in seven consecutive games. One reception for 40 yards and a touchdown might be enough for the big-bodied wide receiver to crack the optimal lineup. His ADOT of 18.4 is appealing considering his salary.
James Harris II, Navy ($8,000) - Harris II is one of few salary savers that has a relatively consistent workload. The fullback has at least seven carries in 10 out of 11 games. Amongst the Midshipmen ball carriers, Harris ranks third in rushing attempts (98), rushing yards (370), and rushing touchdowns (2).
Brandon Walters, Army ($7,500) - Walters may very well airball in the box score on Saturday. However, he does offer big-play ability. The senior running back leads the slate with an average of 12.2 yards per carry. He is worth taking a shot on in this rivalry game.
