5. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Generally, this was a down year for the Big 12 Conference, as only three teams finished the year with an in-conference record above the .500 mark. And only those same three teams -- Kansas, Baylor and West Virginia -- made it out of the season with fewer than 10 losses.

On the contrary, the middle of the conference was much improved. Included in that grouping were the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who finished the season with an 18-14 record overall and a nERD of 10.17. That puts them 48th in the nation while boasting the nation's 60th-ranked offense.

Defense was the problem for the Red Raiders. In terms of efficiency, they ranked outside the top 100 teams, surrendering 100.2 points per 100 possessions. So saying they're a snub would be a bit of an overstatement.
