FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Helper: Friday 10/25/19

If you're new to daily fantasy basketball -- maybe you started your DFS journey during the MLB or NFL seasons, or maybe basketball is your sport and this will be your first year giving it a shot -- you're in for a treat. The NBA scene changes hugely on a week-to-week, day-to-day, and -- depending on injury news -- even a minute-to-minute basis, making every slate a unique one that requires an ever-changing approach.

With so much changing so quickly, we're here with plenty of tools to help you out. We have daily projections, a matchup heat map, a lineup optimizer, and a bunch of other great resources to help give you an edge.

We'll also be coming at you with this primer every day, breaking down a few of the day's top plays at each position.

Let's take a look at who you should target on today's main slate.

Point Guard

Point guard is pretty loaded at the top on this slate, as Luka Doncic ($10,000), Kyrie Irving ($9,700), and Damian Lillard ($9,600) flood the top of the player pool. Irving dropped 50 points in the opener on a 40.2% usage rate. Doncic had a 36.8% usage rate of his own in his first game, taking 19 shot attempts and generating 49.3 FanDuel points. Lillard took 21 field goals of his own. They all offer high ceilings. My simulations rank them -- adjusted for price -- Irving, Doncic, Lillard, but all are top-six plays at the position even accounting for price.

The next tier is probably where we should look if not taking two of those top three: Mike Conley ($7,300), Terry Rozier ($6,600), Kemba Walker ($8,200), and Jamal Murray ($7,100) round out the top seven in my simulations for the night among the position. If you're building a cash-game or are entering a small tournament, spending a bit at point guard is probably the way to go this evening, given the plethora of options.

If spending down, we should at least seek upside among point guards (and every position, really, unless we're talking a high-floor cash game option for head-to-heads). The best 75th-percentile values in my simulations among the cheaper point guards are Ishmael Smith ($5,100), Spencer Dinwiddie ($5,100), and Emmanuel Mudiay ($3,700).

Core Plays: Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, Damian Lillard
Secondary Plays: Mike Conley, Terry Rozier, Kemba Walker, Jamal Murray
