The Best of the Best

#1 Utah Jazz
Karl Malone: 20.9 nERD
John Stockton: 8.3 nERD
Team Total: 29.2 nERD

For those of you who played the original NBA Jam frequently, it should come as no surprise that the dynamic duo of Stockton and Malone would land at the top spot on these rankings. As I alluded to earlier, the Mailman had the highest nERD of any usable player at 20.9 thanks in large part to an impressive 120 offensive rating and the highest efficiency score in the game at 5.1.

While Stockton didn't post quite as gaudy numbers as his partner in crime, he was far from a pushover himself. The Jazz floor general amassed a league-leading 12 assists with 2.4 assists to go along with his 15.1 points per game. He also posted an absolutely absurd 49.8% assist percentage -- also league-leading -- while having a surprisingly low 19.9% usage rate. And that was probably one of the worst seasons of his career.

Not only were Stockton and Malone probably the best one-two punch in the league, but they possessed the perfect combined skill-set for NBA Jam. Stockton was a great shooter, outstanding passer and had some of the quickest hands in the league. Malone complimented Stockton perfectly with his size, rebounding prowess and ability to finish at the rim. The truly were the perfect duo for this type of game.
