James Harden has established himself as an excellent option regardless of the matchup, but he has excelled when playing with game script in his favor over the past two seasons.

The Houston Rockets find themselves in just that tonight, as they have a 117.5-point implied team total against the Charlotte Hornets, which is tied with the Golden State Warriors for the highest on the slate. Unlike the Warriors, though, the Rockets are not double-digit favorites. So, this game has a little less blowout risk to go along with a 225.5-point over/under, which is easily the highest on the slate.

Per the RotoViz Game Splits App, Harden has averaged 60 FanDuel points over the past two seasons when Houston is projected for 117.5 or more points, as opposed to 49.1 in all other games. He's also played well in projected shootouts, averaging 56.7 FanDuel points with at least a 225.5-point over/under, as opposed to 49.3 in other games.

Harden will also benefit from the absence of Nicolas Batum, who ranks ninth among shooting guards in real defensive plus-minus (0.75). Batum will be replaced by Jeremy Lamb, who ranks 29th among two-guards with a -0.11 real defensive plus-minus.

The Hornets have no way of slowing down Harden, who should have a field day in what has the makings of a shootout. The only thing that will be able to slow him down is a blowout.
