Shohei Ohtani could still play for Angels in 2019, despite Tommy John surgery
Los Angeles Angels outfielder/pitcher Shohei Ohtani could still play for the team during the 2019 season, despite the fact that he'll likely be undergoing Tommy John surgery.
If he does play, it would only be in a hitting role. He would become the first player in MLB history to continue playing in the year after surgery, according to Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan. Needless to say, this would be a huge boost to the Angels' offense in 2019.
Ohtani is hitting .287 with 18 home runs, 45 runs, and 47 RBI this season. His .946 OPS would rank eighth in the Majors if he qualified.
