Athletics acquire pitcher Mike Fiers from Tigers
The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Mike Fiers from the Detroit Tigers for two players to be named later or cash considerations.
What It Means:
The two teams nearly pulled off the deal before the trade deadline but still made the trade using the waiver process. Fiers will provide the A's with additional rotation depth as Oakland competes for a wild-card berth in the AL.
Fiers has posted a 3.48 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 119 innings pitched this season for Detroit.
