Astros have inquired about Wilson Ramos from Rays
The Houston Astros have contacted the Tampa Bay Rays about a possible trade for catcher Wilson Ramos, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Houston starter Brian McCann had surgery on his right knee and should be out until September. The Astros are looking to bring in an established catcher for the stretch run to replace him, and Ramos –- named an American League All-Star on Sunday -- fits the bill. Ramos has batted .291/.340/.479 with 14 home runs and 51 RBI in 75 games this season so far.
Our models project Ramos to bat .275 with 12 home runs, 27 runs, and 36 RBI in 231 more plate appearances this season.
