Miles Mikolas throws a complete game shutout in Cardinals' victory
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas threw his first career shutout Monday, racking up 9 strikeouts and just 1 walk in a 5-0 win over the Kansas City Royals.
Mikolas needed 109 pitches to get through the Royals' lineup and he threw 77 of them for strikes. The right-hander improved to 6-0 on the season with a 2.24 ERA. The right-hander has allowed 2 runs less in seven straight starts and Mikolas is scheduled to return to the mound Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
