Houston Astros pitcher Charlie Morton struck out 14 batters while allowing just 1 run and 4 hits in 7 innings to secure the win over the Texas Rangers on Saturday.
Morton was on fire Saturday setting down over 50% of the batters he faced by way of the K. The only blemish was a solo homer hit in the third inning by Ronald Guzman. Morton now has a perfect 5-0 record in 8 starts this season.
Morton lowered his ERA to 2.03 and his WHIP to 0.97 after the start. He has 62 strikeouts compared to just 17 walks in 48 2/3 innings pitched this season.
