Giants' Johnny Cueto (ankle) might not be ready by Tuesday
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto said his ailing left ankle "still hurts" after throwing on flat ground Thursday.
"I don’t want to give an estimate," said Cueto. "It still hurts when I throw. I’m concerned about maybe committing to throwing Tuesday and getting hurt more." The 32-year-old right-hander was expected to return on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but that might no longer be the case.
Cueto averaged 32.5 FanDuel points in his two starts and assuming the veteran returns soon, numberFire projects him to record a 4.08 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 151 strikeouts and 55 walks across 165 2/3 innings over the remainder of the year.
