Giants' Mark Melancon (arm) still dealing with discomfort
San Francisco Giants reliever Mark Melancon (arm) told reporters after his spring training debut on Wednesday that he's still dealing with discomfort.
Melancon said that he's "progressing" but acknowledged he remains below 100 percent after pitching on Wednesday for the first time since undergoing a procedure on his right forearm in September. “Discomfort is part of the process," the 32-year-old right-hander said. "I don’t view it as a negative thing. That’s part of it.†Melancon is expected to be ready to handle closing duties for the Giants by Opening Day.
numberFire's models project Melancon to record a 2.73 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 21.9 strikeout percentage with 26 saves across 59 1/3 innings this season.
