Mike Fiers on Astros' roster for Wild Card game
Houston Astros pitcher Mike Fiers is on the Astros' roster for Tuesday's Wild Card game against the New York Yankees.
Dallas Keuchel is starting the Wild Card game, but he's going on three days' rest, so Fiers gives Astros manager A.J. Hinch some flexibility just in case. Similar to the Yankees, the Astros are carrying nine pitchers for the one-game playoff. Of course, the Astros will reset their roster if they advance to the ALDS.
Fiers -- acquired midseason from the Milwaukee Brewers -- finished the regular season with a 2.04 nERD, which checks in 44th among pitchers, with a 4.04 xFIP. He had a 3.13 xFIP in 2014.
