Andrew Heaney walks five in final regular-season start for Angels
Los Angeles Angels starter Andrew Heaney walked 5 batters over 4 1/3 innings Thursday as the Angels fell to the Texas Rangers, 5-3.
Heaney allowed four runs on five hits with just one strikeout. The big blow was a three-run double from Adrian Beltre in the fifth inning.
Heaney wraps up the season with a 4.42 xFIP to go with 6.64 strikeouts and 2.38 walks per nine innings. Over his final 14 starts, Heaney's xFIP jumped up to 4.79. The lefty will be entering his age-25 season next year, and his rookie campaign certainly should have gone worse, but there are concerns if Heaney can't up his strikeout totals or increase his ground-ball rate.
